“Are you excited about your new job?”, people continually ask me.
I’ve mentioned this in some of my other post, next week I start a new nursing job.
“I guess I’m excited. I’m definitely a little nervous.” I always respond.
I’m as excited as one can be to start a job that they love, but not with a passion. Don’t get me wrong, nursing is my first choice of a “real job” (like a job you can major in) but my passion is public speaking.
I remember 7 years ago when I was a junior in high school I was asked to give my first talk. I was scared as hell. But once I was up there its like I was a different person, something in me came fully alive.
Since then I have spoken in The Bronx, Chicago, Belize, Ukraine, various places in Ohio, and various places in Louisiana. It was usually at a retreat, a church event, or in a classroom setting. With each time my passion for sharing the love of the Lord and his love for us has grown deeper and deeper.
Recently I began getting frustrated. How do some people make this a career? What does it take? I would sit in prayer and be like, “Okay, Lord. I get it. Right now is my time to be a nurse, but will I ever get to fulfill my passion. How do I get there? How do I reach more people?”
The answer I recently got in prayer is to just keep loving the Lord with all my heart, keep spreading his love, keeping being authentically me, and my time will come.
Friends, this post is rather short and sweet but I just wanted to leave you with this: don’t ever give up on your dreams. I know the waiting can be hard (trust me, I know this all to well). But it will come in due time.
The Lord’s timing is always better than ours.
